PGA Tour Trainer, Ben Shear, has created the training system for Golf & Body NYC. His proven methods for improved overall health and golf performance work around a key principle: that you must follow the progression of mobility, stability, coordination, strength and power to achieve optimal health and physical development.
The process starts with the Basic Elements of Golf Performance Assessment. Once the member has been assessed, Golf Performance Coaches design a program that can be implemented in a number of ways. Unlike at many other facilities, GBNYC members can work with the same trainer each visit or see different trainers, each applying his or her styles to the client’s requirements. For example, a member might want strength and functional training one day, a yoga workout the next. To make this possible and remain effective, each member’s data is centralized, giving trainers quick and easy access to what’s needed to maintain progress and work toward each person’s goals. GBNYC members also have the option of one-on-one training sessions or semi-private sessions: Equally effective, one-on-one ensures strict attention to correct form and proper movement; semi-private sessions (of two or three people, each following his or her individualized program) is a more social and less expensive way to enjoy the Golf & Body NYC experience. All sessions are 55 minutes in length.

Yoga (Private Yoga/Movement Education, Semi-Private Classes, Group Classes)
Yoga at Golf & Body NYC is not based on any one tradition. Instead, it is a movement practice largely inspired by yoga postures and concepts and also strongly influenced by science—notably kinesiology, biomechanics, and human physiology. The functional training of yoga allows each member to learn to move in ways that increase body awareness while improving mobility and stability. These traits are not only key to improving one’s golf game, but also overall quality of life and health.
